This 1:1 coaching program is for 1st to 3rd year doctoral students who need help getting over the early slumps of graduate school. Together we reflect on some of the common hurdles that might contribute to self-doubt and lack of self-efficacy while also building sustainable systems that can keep you accountable to their goals.

Students explore the pillars of self-actualization in order to tackle limiting beliefs that are holding you back from executing in this moment, appraise the resources and skills at your disposal to help you fulfill the demands of your program, plan for what you ought to prioritize in your journey, set up love-rooted guardrails that keep you on track, and maintain systems of accountability that sustain the integrity of your work.

Dr. Jessica S. Samuel is the founder & CEO of Radical Education & Advocacy League, LLC (REAL), an educational equity firm focused on helping historically underserved students thrive, not just survive. She is an educator, interdisciplinary scholar, and decolonial activist whose work focuses on race, education, colonialism and the environment, including where they all might converge, in the United States and Caribbean. Dr. Samuel serves as an appointed member of several education boards and civic committees. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Boston University, a Master of Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a Bachelor in African American Studies and Anthropology from Wesleyan University. Dr. Samuel is an alumna of the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers, Teach for America, and the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship.
